Of particular interest:
Americans officials had strongly reiterated that it would not give up control over the net's technical functions, including the domain name addressing system. They argued that the internet grew out of US military and academic research, and that the US government had both the responsibility, and the ability, to keep the internet open, stable and secure.

This is the first arrest for file-sharing using this system, which allows the fast transfer of much larger files than a system like LimeWire. The MPAA is now finding itself in the same position as the RIAA - the public has found a way to circumvent the commercial barrier set up by the culture industry. With the commercial viability of their product in danger, the industry falls back on legal action in an attempt to scare file-sharers back into accepting the commercial-exchange model of culture production. Lawsuits did not prevent music file-sharing, and it won't prevent movie file-sharing. As technology advances past the point when the culture industry is able to clamp down on the distribution of various media, the public begins to shed the authority of these parasitic, profit-driven institutions.|W|P|113137493877837083|W|P|BitTorrent Arrest|W|P|romance@recombinanthumandragon.com
