THE EARL OF BANDWIDTH - DISSPHASIA (2008)


}}} A collection of "b-sides" made during the past 3 years. 37 tracks, clocking just under 2 hours, mostly consisting of remixes and out-takes of tracks from my last two albums, "Big Time" (2005) and Now These Are Sounds... (2006), but also of tracks from The Farewell Estate (2007) and what few tracks I produced in 2007-8. For a long time I tried to plan the track order carefully and make all of these unruly tracks feel like an "album," but the truth is that each one was produced at a different time, without the benefit of some overall vision. Seasoned Bandwidth listeners will hear a lot of familiar samples - thank yous for source material and/or production assistance go out to Beastmaster Romance, Consupermizo, Optimatic, the Teeth (R.I.P.), battleofthebits.org, Captain Obvious, Frequency13 and Natural Dizasterz. I called it "dissphasia" because I was at a loss for words for how to title such a mess, when I realized that all of this music was made in the dissertation phase of my schooling, since I left Michigan for Paris in 2005. When I feel lost in my academic work, I often turn to sound mixing to clear my head and inspire creativity. So maybe that's the only thing that holds all these songs together - it's just a phase I'm going through... {{{
